The Truth? This is it

Standard

Take it or leave it , sometimes its a ‘THIS IS IT!’

In our quest to find answers
To questions plaguing our minds
We invest time , energy and efforts
Proportionate to how elusive we fathom it to be !

We expect something profound
An elaborate enlightening process
A dictum from heaven
A messiah with a ‘just for you’ message
Words of wisdom from enlightened souls
A divine voice out of nowhere
A truthsayer with a halo
A de ja vu moment !

However when the Truth confronts us
In the simplest of the ways, as it usually does
Like an inward whisper
A simple matter of fact clarification
Just things exactly the way they seem
Or the likes of these
We simply shrug it away!

And the Truth?  It just passed by
Without fetching a raised brow or even a second look!

So engulfing  is the process of seeking it
Specially, the speculative ‘could be’ ‘should be’ portions
That the research drags on
And that’s how we miss the forest for the trees !

Motherhood !

Standard

That little something that wrenches your heart
When you hear a child wailing inconsolably in a doctors room
That little something that tears you apart
Seeing a penniless old man begging for alms
That little something that wants you to nurture happiness
In the lives of those dear to you
That little something that makes you put your children first
Ahead of any priority else
Such ‘that little somethings’ is pretty much
What defines and dominates Motherhood !

Chennai : Battered and humbled !

Standard

Battered,Nature indeed is the greatest leveller and the greatest teacher. The flood fury has taught us just that. The lessons we learnt are simple – humility, humanity, resilience and compassion.

The so called conservative Chennai folks simply led by an extraordinary example with open doors and hearts, doing every single bit possible to hold up each other in a crisis that cannot be well explained. We survived nearly a week of no power, no network, no water, no supplies, no cash, no ATMs, no card transactions in outlets and all that was found in plentiful other than the flooded water was simply humanity on ground and virtually. In a crisis you know who your friends really are and there was pouring support physically from the neighbouring states and virtually from folks world wide.

Even those of us, who could not get on ground helped the situation by prayers, positivity, thoughts and through social media.

Am particularly inspired today as I write, not by people from the books we read about, but by my own friends, family, neighbours who have done humongous job in every single way possible. Thank you all. You are the unsung heroes who saved the day. Heart warming stories of rescue efforts from hitherto unlikely sources like fishermen, military personnel, corporation sewer men, by volunteers, who gave their all for people whom they don’t even know, shall outlive its life in the memories of those whose life was touched by them.

I trust there is a little something in everyone that makes the world go around and the Chennai floods has clearly shown us that. Nature has tempered us immensely. Though all is not well and the pain of those who lost their dear ones, property and much more, may not heal for a long time to come, I believe we will pull it off together some how, some day, some way !

A lifetime to create
A moment to destroy
All that remains
Are broken dreams and broken hearts
Yet like a phoenix we shall soar
Although right now we feel so low
And tomorrow shall be the day
If it isn’t today!

Ouch…it hurts !

DSC_0942“Not all scars show, not all wounds heal.  Sometimes you cant see the pain someone else feels”

I read this somewhere recently and it struck a chord.  My expressions on this emotion : PAIN

I look up into a night , devoid of stars
I am overcome with an urge to reach out to the void
Sheer space sans definition of any kind
Could sometimes be a solace to an aching heart
That wants to feel no pain, no hate, no love
Just sheer plain  ‘nothing’!

That crouching agony
Those sleepless nights
A soulless living
When death seems inviting than life!

The undying scars
The lessons you never wished to be taught,
The impermanence of feelings that glares on your face
The negativity that follows you like a trail !

The insignificance of the being called you
The slow yet sure tempering of the ego in you!

You came alone
And so shall you leave
Its worth to build some grace
And find your peace !

Come on man, have a heart !

Today is apparently World Heart Day! My thoughts here drift simply to its symbolic representation in today’s world and absolute adoration for the soul who coined the heart logo. Think about it, its not just a complex organ even a realistic representation would require some artistic skills.  So, this Jack (of hearts) who came along, inspired perhaps by a betel leaf and coined a heart logo, totally holds my awe and adoration right now, for the sheer simplicity in representation !   Now moving on from here –

Billions of hearts around
In a biological sense indeed
Yet isn’t it the beauty in it
That we incessantly seek?

“Oh man, have a heart, listen to how I feel !”
“He hath no heart, for he hears not, to the rhythms of my beat!”
These are usual verses we hear
When we eavesdrop into hearts’ territory!

Beautiful are those
That withstands (metaphorically) the sands of time
And not wither away
By circumstances and deeds
Nesting bountiful spaces
Of love, compassion and empathy!

Hearts steeled up with ego
Quoted with pride
Hardened by rough weather and bitter pasts
Grope in darkness
Yearning to see day light !

The stellar kinds are those
That pursue kindness as breath itself
And touch peoples lives’ with its random acts,
Through selfless service and humble gestures,
They shine like the brightest star
With undiminishing charm !

What has come, will happen to pass
So a lingering hatred in the heart
Is a definite faux pas !

Come on man,
Give a piece of  your heart not mind !
‘Yeh Dil Maange More’ guarantees no peace
Try ‘Yeh Dil Dhenge more’ and ring in bliss, joy & eternal harmony!

When their magic wand is yours !

Standard

Some folks walk into your life

They discover how special you are

They revel in the difference you make to them

And slowly, they give away a piece of themselves

Without as much as second thoughts ,

For they find in you the safest place

To place their own precious magic wands!

Alas they don’t tell you these are magical

And made of trust or friendship or love or bountiful goodness in thought

That can make them or break them

And that whatever you choose to do with it,

They will never be the same again !

Their wand is yours now

You could flood them with inexpressible joy

Inspire them with your thoughts and deeds

Create an infectious happiness viral

That could eternally drift around

All thanks to you !

Try, just try, to do a little of it, if not all

And see when even a little could mean a lot !

Try, just try, to believe & watch them soar

And witness the wonders, only sheer trust could unfold!

“Surprise! “….. Just bring them on !

Magic wands on fairy godmothers,

Pregnant ducks with golden eggs ,

Knights in glittering armors sweeping off the blues,

A little bean seed leading to endless fortunes…

Well, the wishlist is endless

But tales are tales and best to leave them there

And look for ways to feel the real joys, now and here !

A volley of caring thoughts

From a friend , so dear,

Or a carefully crafted bouquet of little things

Specially designed for the unique you,

Could suddenly mean a lot in the world to you!

A ‘missed you’ hug that could fill up a book

A ‘can do’ pat, to cheer you up

Could bring up a smile that lasts long enough!

Well, when any of these come, when you least expect

Like a sudden cloud burst, right out of the blue

It sure adds to the charm, like the toppings on a stew!

I for sure, do love these pleasureable ‘surprises’!

So bring them on or pass them on

And fill the air with that undeniable charm !
